A simple and delicious Mushroom Pasta recipe featuring sautéed mushrooms and garlic tossed with perfectly cooked pasta and finished with Parmesan cheese for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 8 oz pasta (such as spaghetti or fettuccine)

Mushroom Sauce

  • 10 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  2. Sauté mushrooms and garlic: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until they start to brown and release their moisture, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Toss pasta and mushrooms: Add the drained pasta to the skillet with mushrooms. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to create a light sauce that coats the pasta.
  4. Finish with cheese: Remove from heat and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the pasta. Toss gently to melt the cheese and combine all flavors before serving.

Notes

  • Use any type of pasta you prefer, such as spaghetti, linguine, or penne.
  • For a richer taste, add a splash of cream or butter while tossing with pasta.
  • Fresh Parmesan cheese yields the best flavor.
  • To make it vegan, omit the Parmesan or use a plant-based cheese alternative.
  • Reserve some pasta water to help emulsify the sauce and keep the pasta moist.
