Biscuits
- 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
Sausage Gravy
- 1 lb ground breakfast sausage
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Eggs and Toppings
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives (optional)
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the biscuit crust.
- Prepare Biscuits: Roll out the refrigerated biscuit dough onto a greased pizza pan or baking sheet, pressing pieces together to form a single flat crust approximately 12 inches in diameter.
- Bake Biscuits: Bake the biscuit crust in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from oven and set aside.
- Cook Sausage: While the biscuits bake, cook the ground breakfast sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Make Gravy: Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir well to coat. Slowly add the whole milk while stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Cook and stir until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Scramble Eggs: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then scramble them gently in a lightly greased skillet over medium-low heat until just set but still moist. Remove from heat.
- Assemble Pizza: Spread the sausage gravy evenly over the baked biscuit crust. Spoon the scrambled eggs evenly over the gravy layer. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake Final Pizza: Return the assembled pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven and sprinkle chopped fresh chives on top if desired. Slice and serve warm for a satisfying breakfast experience.
Notes
- Use whole milk for creamier gravy; you can substitute with 2% milk for a lighter version.
- Fresh biscuits can be used instead of canned dough if preferred.
- For added flavor, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the gravy.
- Chives are optional but add a fresh and mild onion flavor.
- To make it gluten-free, use gluten-free biscuit dough and gluten-free flour.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven or microwave.
