Ingredients

Scale

Meats

  • 7 slices prosciutto
  • 57 slices Italian salami

Vegetables & Greens

  • 34 fresh basil leaves
  • 12 cups arugula or spinach
  • 1/3 cup sun-dried tomatoes

Dairy

  • 1 ball of burrata

Seasonings & Condiments

  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Oregano, to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil, to taste
  • Balsamic glaze, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the base slices: Line a cutting board with parchment paper. Lay the slices of prosciutto parallel to each other with edges overlapping, then layer the Italian salami slices in the same manner over the prosciutto.
  2. Add fresh layers: Place fresh basil leaves evenly across the center of the prosciutto and salami layers to cover all slices. Top with arugula or spinach, then evenly distribute sun-dried tomatoes on top.
  3. Spread burrata and season: Tear open the ball of burrata and spread it evenly over the sun-dried tomatoes layer. Sprinkle with kosher salt, black pepper, and oregano to taste. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze for flavor enhancement.
  4. Roll the sushi: Starting at the long edge, carefully roll the prosciutto and salami tightly over the fillings, keeping the slices connected to form a long roll like sushi.
  5. Slice and serve: Cut the roll into 6-8 even pieces and serve immediately with additional balsamic glaze if desired.

Notes

  • Use fresh burrata for the creamiest texture; mozzarella can be a substitute if unavailable.
  • Arugula adds a peppery bite, but spinach or mixed greens can be used based on preference.
  • Chill the roll briefly before slicing if you want cleaner slices.
  • Adjust seasoning to personal taste, especially with salt and balsamic glaze.
  • This appetizer is best served fresh as the meats can dry out over time.
