Ingredients

Scale

Ravioli and Meat

  • 1 package (25 oz) frozen cheese ravioli
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Sauces and Cheese

  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ravioli: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the frozen cheese ravioli and cook according to package instructions until tender but firm. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with garlic powder until no longer pink, breaking it up into crumbles. Drain excess fat, then season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Combine Ricotta and Sour Cream: In a medium bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese and sour cream until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  4. Layer the Casserole: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom. Add half of the cooked ravioli in an even layer. Spread half of the ricotta and sour cream mixture over the ravioli, followed by half of the cooked ground beef, then a third of the shredded mozzarella and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Repeat the layering starting with marinara sauce, ravioli, ricotta mixture, ground beef, mozzarella, and Parmesan.
  5. Bake: Cover the casserole with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden on top.
  6. Serve: Allow the casserole to cool for about 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with extra Parmesan or fresh basil if desired.

Notes

  • Use fresh or frozen ravioli; adjust cooking time accordingly.
  • For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
  • Add chopped fresh basil or parsley for a burst of fresh flavor.
  • Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently in the microwave or oven to maintain cheesy texture.
