Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 2 cans (16 ounces each) refrigerated biscuit dough or pizza dough, cut into small pieces

Cheese & Meat

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 package (6 ounces) pepperoni slices, cut into halves or quarters

Seasoned Butter Mixture

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the seasoned butter mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted unsalted butter, olive oil, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes if using. Set aside to let the flavors meld.
  2. Prepare the dough pieces: Cut the refrigerated biscuit or pizza dough into bite-sized pieces if not already pre-cut. Place the dough pieces in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Coat dough in seasoned butter: Pour about half of the seasoned butter mixture over the dough pieces, tossing them gently with clean hands or a spoon to coat evenly.
  4. Layer dough, cheese, and pepperoni: Grease a bundt pan or deep oven-safe dish with butter or non-stick spray. Place a layer of coated dough balls in the bottom, sprinkle some mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, and scatter some pepperoni pieces. Repeat layering until all dough, cheese, and pepperoni are used, finishing with cheese on top.
  5. Drizzle remaining seasoned butter: Pour the remaining seasoned butter mixture over the layered dough and toppings to ensure flavor and crispiness.
  6. Bake until golden and bubbly: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the assembled monkey bread for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Cool slightly and serve: Remove from oven and allow the monkey bread to cool for 5 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate. Serve warm for a delicious pull-apart appetizer or snack.

Notes

  • Substitute biscuit dough with pre-made pizza dough for a chewier texture.
  • Add extra veggies like chopped bell peppers or olives between layers for variation.
  • Serve with marinara or ranch dipping sauce for an extra flavor punch.
  • Use gloves when tossing dough in seasoned butter to keep hands clean and evenly coat pieces.
  • Store leftovers tightly covered and reheat in the oven for best texture.
