Ingredients

Scale

Proteins

  • 1 lb Ground Beef (lean beef for a healthier option)

Vegetables & Greens

  • 3 medium Red Potatoes (can substitute with brown rice)
  • 1 cup Onions (caramelized for added depth)
  • 1/2 cup Pickles (adds crunch)
  • 1 cup Lettuce (any leafy greens work)

Dairy

  • 1 cup Shredded Cheese (Colby Jack or pepper jack recommended)

Condiments & Seasonings

  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise (adjust for desired creaminess)
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup (use low-sugar for a healthier option)
  • 1 tbsp Mustard (Dijon is a great choice)
  • 1 tbsp Cajun Seasoning (adjust to taste)
  • Olive oil (for roasting potatoes and caramelizing onions)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Base: Dice the red potatoes into small cubes. Toss them with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket and cook for 16-18 minutes until they are crispy on the outside and tender inside, shaking halfway through cooking to ensure even crisping.
  2. Caramelize Onions: While the potatoes cook, heat a small amount of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes until the onions become golden brown and develop a rich, sweet flavor. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Cook the Beef: Increase the heat of the skillet to medium-high. Add the ground beef, break it up and smash it down with a spatula. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and Cajun seasoning until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning depending on your preference for heat or tang.
  5. Assemble the Bowls: Start by placing the crispy air-fried potatoes at the base of your serving bowl. Layer the smashed ground beef on top, then add caramelized onions. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the warm ingredients so it melts slightly. Drizzle the Cajun mayo sauce over everything. Finish by topping with pickles and fresh lettuce for crunch and freshness.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, use lean ground beef and low-sugar ketchup.
  • Brown rice can be used instead of red potatoes for a different base.
  • Feel free to switch the type of cheese based on preference or dietary needs.
  • The Cajun seasoning adds a spicy kick; adjust the amount or omit if you prefer milder flavors.
  • Can be served as a bowl or on a bun for a traditional smash burger experience.
