Ingredients

Scale

Beef and Broth

  • 23 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Garlic powder to taste

Noodles

  • 12 oz egg noodles

Optional Garnishes

  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: Season the 2-3 lb beef chuck roast generously all over with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Place the seasoned beef into the slow cooker.
  2. Create the Base: Pour 4 cups of beef broth into the slow cooker along with 1 packet of onion soup mix and 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce. Stir gently to combine the liquids evenly around the beef.
  3. Slow Cook: Cover the slow cooker with its lid and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours until the beef becomes tender and can be easily shredded with a fork.
  4. Cook the Noodles: About 30 minutes before the beef finishes cooking, prepare the egg noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  5. Shred the Beef: Use tongs or forks to shred the beef directly inside the slow cooker, mixing the meat well with the cooking broth to absorb flavors.
  6. Combine the Noodles: Add the cooked egg noodles into the slow cooker with the shredded beef. Gently stir to coat the noodles in the rich broth and meat mixture. Let everything warm through for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Serve: Serve the beef and noodles hot, optionally garnished with fresh chopped parsley or grated Parmesan cheese for added flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Chuck roast is ideal for slow cooking but brisket or stew meat can be used as alternatives.
  • For a thicker sauce, mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 2 tablespoons cold water and stir into the slow cooker before adding the noodles; simmer 10-15 minutes to thicken.
  • Add vegetables like carrots, celery, or mushrooms at the start of cooking for extra flavor and texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze beef and broth separately from noodles to prevent noodles from becoming mushy when reheated.
