Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 2 salmon fillets (6 oz each)

Teriyaki Glaze

  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger

Garnish

  • Sesame seeds, for sprinkling
  • Spring onion, sliced, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the low-sodium soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger until well combined. This mixture will serve as the flavorful glaze for the salmon.
  2. Marinate the Salmon: Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour half of the teriyaki sauce over them. Allow the salmon to marinate for 10-15 minutes to absorb the flavors without overpowering the natural taste of the fish.
  3. Cook the Salmon: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Remove the salmon from the marinade, reserving the leftover sauce. Place the fillets skin-side down in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy.
  4. Flip and Glaze: Carefully flip the salmon fillets over and cook for another 3-4 minutes until cooked through. During the last minute, brush the reserved teriyaki sauce generously over the salmon and allow it to slightly caramelize for a glossy glaze.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Remove the salmon from the pan and plate it. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced spring onion for a fresh and nutty finish. Serve hot with your choice of sides like steamed rice or vegetables.

Notes

  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to control the salt content in the dish.
  • Do not marinate the salmon for too long to keep its texture tender.
  • For a deeper flavor, the glaze can be simmered slightly before brushing on the salmon.
  • Ensure the skillet is hot before cooking to achieve a crispy skin.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
